Chisinau was founded in 1436, but it was officially mentioned as Chisinau in 1666. The city is situated on the hills and terraces of the Bic river valley. There are 6 districts. All the streets and boulevards got their new nation names after Independence Day in 1991.
In the downtown are some buildings designed by the famous architect A. Bernardazzi and modern buildings like: Parlament of Moldova, the National Opera and Ballet Hous and the National Palace.
